Hello Kitty’s 35th Anniversary
Hello Kitty has long been a muse to artists & designers. In honor of Hello Kitty’s 35th Anniversary celebration, SANRIO, Inc. is bringing an event to the U.S. like nothing America has seen before. ‘Three Apples’ is a multi-dimensional exhibition and celebration of all things Hello Kitty running from October 23 to November 15 that will kick-off with a VIP media event and be followed by unique displays, an art sale for charity and special fan events that will be open to the public, free of charge – all celebrating this beloved pop icon! The celebration, at Royal-T in Culver City, CA, is targeted at Hello Kitty fans of all ages.
Hello Kitty Art Show - Contemporary artists Gary Baseman, Ron English, Buff Monster, Hush, Camilla d'Errico, Aiko, Luke Chueh, Deph and Yosuke Ueno are just a few of the 30+ artists that have been invited to interpret their vision of Hello Kitty in one of a kind pieces of art that will be for sale and on display throughout the duration of ‘Three Apples’. The Hello Kitty Art Show will be curated by Jamie Rivadeneira, owner of JapanLA, a Los Angeles boutique that specializes in "cute" Japanese and American products (www.japanla.com). The participating artists all share a love of Hello Kitty, which will blend with their unique style to show through in their works. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the art will go to community-based charities.

UpFest - Bristol 2009
Thanks to all at UPFEST for a great time - you know who you are:)
This year will see five venues across South Bristol descended on for what is to be the largest live Urban Art show this year. Catering for 150 artists from around the globe supporting the National Association of Children of Alcoholics.
Hush is showing at this year's SCOPE art fair in Basel. Exhibiting artists also include Johan Andersson, Chris Kettle, Laurie Lipton, Lex Thomas, Dave White and Shu Yong, showing with Opus art (http://www.opus-art.com).
SCOPE, the most global art show in the world, returns for the third year to Basel in a new venue, at Sportplatz Landhof which a less than a two minute walk from Art Basel 40 at Messe. SCOPE will present its most international show yet, showcasing 85 galleries from all over the world.
SCOPE Basel 2009 exhibitors, special events, and curatorial programs amplify the show's signal achievement: introducing artists, curators, and cutting-edge galleries to new audiences internationally, making it the most comprehensive destination for emerging art available anywhere.
The fair solidifies its position as a leading presenter in the global art world. Currently with fairs in New York, London, Miami, Basel, and the Hamptons, SCOPE is expanding into Spain, China, and the United Arab Emirates, where a cultural world's show of art, music, and film has been commissioned.
The show has evolved from an industry niche to an influential global contributor, with ongoing events, educational programs, and the SCOPE Foundation 501(c) 3.With total sales of nearly $100 million, over 250,000 visitors, and wide media attention, SCOPE has helped build a flourishing collector base in the contemporary art market.
At SCOPE Basel, this year's edition builds on SCOPE's tradition of one-person and thematic group shows, and museum-quality programming to create a real-time international survey of emerging art.
Hush's work has been described as a sensory assault of shape, color, and character. Inspired by the portrayal of the female form in art, the artist builds up and tears down layers of paint and images as he works, "letting the canvas and marks take their own path." The result is an enigmatic synthesis of anime, pop-infused imagery and graffiti that exposes the conflict between power and decay, innocence and sexuality, and the fusion of Eastern and Western culture.
Hush continues to evolve his style with this latest batch of pieces, which merges his early anime and pop-art influenced graffiti technique with an exploration of Romanesque iconographic imagery. The new works are bigger, deeper and richer than anything he has produced to date.
About the Artist:
Hush is stimulated, influenced and driven by his cross cultural experiences. Having originally trained as a graphic designer and illustrator at Newcastle School of Art and Design, his work has taken him across Asia and Europe, whilst simultaneously developing his prominence as a contemporary artist. Hush now resides in the UK painting in his studio daily.
